It seems that I get asked the question a lot about what are some good books to read in order to help one on their Christian walk. Given the fact that there are so many books out there on a variety of topics that express a certain belief while using the Bible to aid in the support, I thought I would write down a quick list of a dozen or so books that will help you as you wrestle with the Scriptures and walk out your faith.
This list is in no way complete but is only a starting point as we learn and grow in our knowledge of God. Feel free to add your suggestions in the comments below. Continue reading ‘Recommended Reading’
Some of us try to cover it up…
some of us lie about it…
some of us pretend it doesn’t exist…
all of us have given into it…
Temptation.
What is temptation, where does it come from, how do we handle it?
Can we ever have victory over it?
This week at Access we’ll be discussing temptation and some truths that you probably have never heard before about where temptation comes from and what you can do to combat it.
See you Thursday.

Question:
Have you ever had someone do something mean or dishonest to you and then act as though it never happened? Has this person been a follower of Christ, who you expected more from - that they’d acknowledge their wrong doing and make amends? Have you wished that someone would tell them that what they did was wrong and that they’d admit their fault?
If this sounds familiar then you don’t want to miss this Thursday.
Shalom!

Hey guys, stick around after service this week and grab your friends for a game of spoons or euchre. The cafe will be open and we’ll provide the cards and the tables…and the spoons, of course! So bring a friend, or resolve to meet someone new and hopefully I’ll see some of you across the card table on Thursday night!
Blessings, Jessica
I received this question via facebook and thought it would be good to post here. (I removed the person’s name who submitted the question). Continue reading ‘Question on 1 Cor 1:18′
Hi everyone, I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on some of the new things coming up. Tonight Pastor Todd has the floor and we’re gonna have a fun night with him.
Next week, Pastor Brent is back and will be talking about sharing your faith, and there will be some Q&A in the end. He has heard your cries for some nights devoted solely to Q&A and they are coming!
And if you’ve been considering being a part of the New York team going in June, they have a meeting after service TONIGHT for everyone interested, and then a deposit of $75 is due next week. It’s going to be an incredible trip!
That’s it, hope to see you all tonight!
Blessings, Jessica

Greetings to all the saints in Grand Rapids,
I pray everyone had a great holiday season. Although it was relaxing and a great time to refuel, I am glad that the holidays are over and Access is back! We will be beginning our 2009 Access year this Thursday, January 8th. Over the past few months we have been discussing the characteristics of God in our series, God Is. I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who submitted questions for the series, and apologize if your question was not answered - although we greatly tried to answer all the questions, some did not fit into the the series. Which leads me to this upcoming week. Continue reading ‘Open Q&A at Access 1/8/09′
Heads up… God spoke something to me over the past weekend, so we are going to be changing this week’s message. If you are only able to attend one week in the “God Is” series this is the one you do not want to miss. I hope to see you all at the Ground Floor this Thursday (the 18th) as we discuss– Continue reading ‘God Is finale’
So here’s the 411 on bowling December 31st:
We have rented out half of Hudsonville Lanes on New Years Eve from 10:30pm-1am for the Access New Years Eve party. Tickets are only $12 a piece which includes all your bowling (play as much as you want), shoe rental, and unlimited soda. Last year was pretty hectic and unfortunately we had to turn some people away because there was not enough room. This year we have rented more lanes, but still can only accommodate 72 bowlers (12 lanes, 6 bowlers each). Since there is only twelve lanes we need people to sign up prior to Dec 31st so that everyone who wants to bowl can. This is a first come, first serve event. Payment is due at time of sign-up, but we will be selling tickets at the door at Hudsonville Lanes… but don’t wait because tickets are going fast.
This is going to be a great time, of fellowship, food, bowling, and laughter. You don’t want to miss it!
Shalom!
Pastor Brent
