Open Q&A at Access 1/8/09

Greetings to all the saints in Grand Rapids,

I pray everyone had a great holiday season. Although it was relaxing and a great time to refuel, I am glad that the holidays are over and Access is back!  We will be beginning our 2009 Access year this Thursday, January 8th. Over the past few months we have been discussing the characteristics of God in our series, God Is. I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who submitted questions for the series, and apologize if your question was not answered - although we greatly tried to answer all the questions, some did not fit into the the series. Which leads me to this upcoming week. Continue reading ‘Open Q&A at Access 1/8/09′

God Is finale

Heads up… God spoke something to me over the past weekend, so we are going to be changing this week’s message. If you are only able to attend one week in the “God Is” series this is the one you do not want to miss. I hope to see you all at the Ground Floor this Thursday (the 18th) as we discuss– Continue reading ‘God Is finale’

It’s a bowl-a-roma!

So here’s the 411 on bowling December 31st:

We have rented out half of Hudsonville Lanes on New Years Eve from 10:30pm-1am for the Access New Years Eve party. Tickets are only $12 a piece which includes all your bowling (play as much as you want), shoe rental, and unlimited soda. Last year was pretty hectic and unfortunately we had to turn some people away because there was not enough room. This year we have rented more lanes, but still can only accommodate 72 bowlers (12 lanes, 6 bowlers each). Since there is only twelve lanes we need people to sign up prior to Dec 31st so that everyone who wants to bowl can. This is a first come, first serve event. Payment is due at time of sign-up, but we will be selling tickets at the door at Hudsonville Lanes… but don’t wait because tickets are going fast.

This is going to be a great time, of fellowship, food, bowling, and laughter. You don’t want to miss it!

Shalom!

Bonfire @ Hansen’s

Hey everyone, if you’re free tomorrow night, Sat. the 22nd, Jason Hansen is going to be having a huge bonfire.  The fire starts at 7 and feel free to bring snacks if you want.  I went last year and there was a ridiculous amoung of wood on that thing!  It was sweet, and there was definitely no getting cold next to it!  See you tomorrow night!  Check the calendar on the website for a map to his house.

Blessings, Jessica

Thanksgiving

There will be no service on November 27th due to Thanksgiving.  I pray that during this season we will all take the time to reflect on how much God has blessed us and how we can in-turn be a blessing to others.   We will be back on Decmember 4th in the Ground Floor.  God bless and have an amazing day of fellowship with your loved ones.

Shalom!

Movie Night Instead of Bonfire!

Ok, so because of the rain we are moving our fire to the mall for a movie!  We’re going to meet in front of the movie theater in Rivertown Crossings Mall at 6:30.  We’re going to see Fireproof which is going to be awesome!  I’ve heard tons of great things about that movie.  And then, of course, afterwards we are going to head out for some food.  We’ll decide where to go after the movie!  Hopefully you guys can come and if you have any questions, shoot me an email at runningchic_7@hotmail.com.  I know…it’s an email address from seventh grade…

10-14 annoucement

Just a quick reminder that we are back home in the Ground Floor this week as we continue our God Is series.  This week we will be discussing God’s characteristic of a savior.  One hint… its much more than your soul.  See you on Thursday.

Shalom!

Brent

10-9 Annoucement

Tonight Access will be meeting in the 180 and will be having both volleyball and basketball in the gym.  Also make sure to bring your appetite as we will be having Papa John’s pizza and pop following service.

Shalom!

Living the way, or knowing The Way

“We are part of a church, a community of people learning to live the way of Jesus together.”  This line was in the introduction of a book that I recently finished.  Live the way of Jesus? Although this sounds good - we’re emulating Jesus - it strikes me that there is something missing with this train of thought… Continue reading ‘Living the way, or knowing The Way’

FaceBook Question

I received this question via email through facebook and thought that everyone would benefit from it.  I took out the member’s name but have included both the question and my response.

Question—
Hi Pastor Brent,
Hey I know you listen to Brian Zahnd a lot, and I was just listening to his latest sermon- which is good if you haven’t listened to it yet- But I have a question for you. Brian said that The Kingdom of God is salvation. I don’t really understand that.
It makes sense a little bit, but I don’t know if i’ve ever heard it that way. So what exactly do you think he means?
Haha sorry, its a weird, random question.
Be blessed! Continue reading ‘FaceBook Question’
